Labour Candidate

The Labour Party have selected their candidate to replace Mr Wills at the next general election. Victor Agrawal has lived in Stanwell, London all his life and currently works at Heathrow Airport. He has pledged that if elected he will move to Swindon.

The Conservative candidate is Cllr Justin Tomlinson, he lives in Taw Hill and has been Councillor in Swindon for the last 10 years. I look forward to a positive campaign by Justin, and wonder how Victor can possibly understand the local issues affecting local residents in Swindon.

It is also interesting to note that Parliament has recently changed the law about nomination papers. Candidates are no longer required to have their home addresses printed on ballot papers. This means that a local resident who thinks about voting for someone will not be able to tell whether that candidate is registered to vote or even live in Swindon, or if they live in London or somewhere else in the Country. I believe this has been done in the name of security, and you do have to wonder because I think that is a poor excuse at hiding important details from the electorate.

If you have any questions on this national policy, residents can contact Mr Wills. He is the minister responsible for democracy in the Labour government, and has plenty of expierence in this area
