Glenn Smith Report Back June 1st 2003

As your new Conservative Councillor for Covingham and Nythe it gives me great pleasure to be able to write this item. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for me for their support, and their belief that I can make a difference for them.

Through talking to well over a thousand people over my campaign, it became very clear that the  residents were primarily concerned with a handful of issues, speed humps, law and order and the proposed skateboard park, to which I am still opposed.

With having the responsibility of being your elected representative, I have already started taking action on these items. I've had several meetings with Council Officers regarding the speed humps and I took part in the BBC television Politics Show on the issue.

I am in the process of meeting with the local Police Officers in an attempt to open channels of communication between ourselves that will hopefully bring better results for the local residents.

On top of these key local issues, I've had the chance to help locally on matters of concern to residents in my ward, as well as getting involved in my areas of responsibility within the Council.
