St Ives Nythe Forum
![]() |
After the local concern over the St Ives Court scheme following a recent planning application, Cllr Glenn Smith formed and is now chairing the Residents Forum in an attempt to deal with the matter. Cllr Glenn Smith said, "By forming and then chairing this residents forum I can make sure the residents have a voice and get listened to." He went on to say, "It is my goal that through regular dialogues between the local residents and the Council, we can achieve improvements that make everyone's quality of life better." |
The forum is made up of Cllr Glenn Smith who chairs the meetings, Cllr Dale Heenan, Cllr Phil Young, local residents and Council Officers.
Since it's creation back in 2005 we have had numerous meetings. We have managed the following achievements:
- Dramatic decrease in issues for local residents
- Considerable improvement in CCTV coverage at the site. We changed the entire system, which now provides internal coverage, 360 external coverage and is linked 24 hours a day to the Swindon Borough Council security centre and the local Police.
- Removed a low standing wall that was providing a place for local youths to hang around.
- Installed a fence instead of untidy shrubbery.
It is a wonderful achievement showing how when Councillors, Residents and Officers work together wonderful things can happen.
